Cupping is an Ancient Therapy Adored by Modern Celebrities and Olympic Athletes.
What is this ancient Chinese secret? Cupping Therapy of course! Cupping Therapy is one of my all time favorite techniques. I do many different types of cupping depending on the body type of my client and desired results of the session. Styles that I practice include Fire Cupping (which you will see in this video) Running Cupping, Flash Cupping, Facial Cupping, and Massage Cupping. All Cupping Therapies are designed to loosen tissue adhesions, increase circulation, support healthy fascia, move stagnant or blocked energy (qi or chi), and create enhanced mobility in your body. Cupping Therapy can also assist in cellulite management, recovery from illness, and aid in athletic event prep and recovery. An Acupuncturist can also perform Moxibustion and Wet Cupping for more serious health issues.
The question I am asked most....What's with the marks?!
So first let me say: NOT ALL CUPPING STYLES LEAVE MARKS.
The marks or "hickies" are from static cupping which can be done with fire cupping or vacuum cupping or even with silicone cups. The longer the cup is left in one place and the more "stagnation" in the tissue, the darker the mark. With the proper technique Moving or Running Cupping can leave little or no marks. In any case the marks go away in a few days much like an old fashioned hickey does.

As you can see from the pics below, Cupping Therapy in Los Angeles has become quite popular with celebrities who are even sporting their cupping marks proudly in backless gowns. I love this because it makes more people aware of the awesome benefits of Cupping Therapy. Cupping is a wonderful way to inspire healing in the body, release stress, detoxify, recover from jet lag, there's even non-marking facial lift cupping for a little anti-aging booster. And the best part... Cupping Therapy is VERY relaxing and feels both wonderful and different. Cupping will also bring relief to certain types of muscle adhesions that are challenging to address with traditional massage because cupping creates space in the tissue vs. the compression of traditional massage techniques. If you love bodywork and massage you have to try cupping therapy at least once in your life. The danger is --- you might become addicted :-) This is a wonderful news feature on a practitioner in Seattle.
